Daphne, Waiheke Island

Daphne Waiheke, a cosy island cottage designed for clients who appreciate natural materials, timeless character, and the beauty found in everyday life. The design draws on a restrained palette of raw, textural finishes — sand-cast bronze hardware, hand-glazed tiles, and natural timber. Blending Japanese simplicity with vintage European country charm. 

Created on a modest budget, this project was a true collaboration with the clients, who brought their passion for design and hands-on craftsmanship to every detail. The clients took on much of the building work, creating a home that feels deeply personal and quietly luxurious. 

Daphne is a place for slow living: a warm retreat to unwind, enjoy island rhythms, and embrace the imperfect beauty of heritage materials and hand-crafted details.
